How to Use a Jacuzzi & Proper Maintenance to Keep it Feeling New!

Caring for a Jacuzzi is simple and important to keep the water clean and ensure the jacuzzi functions properly. Proper maintenance can be done by cleaning & maintaining it. Some things to pay attention to are the cover and filter, checking the chemical levels, and adding the right chemicals as needed.

Why is it so important? To maintain the chemical levels of your Jacuzzi must be at the right level because otherwise it will easily be damaged if the chemical levels are too high and bacteria will grow if the chemical levels are too low. A simple cleaning of the cover will also help the jacuzzi to work properly and last longer.

This is how to use and care for it on regular usage:

Temperature and Time: Jacuzzis offer adjustable temperature settings. Start with a comfortable temperature (around 100-104°F or 37-40°C) and limit your soak to 15-30 minutes at first, especially if you are new to hot tubs.

Water Jets and Whirlpools:

Familiarize yourself with the controls for the water jets and whirlpools. Adjust to your preference for a soothing or refreshing experience.

Shower Before and After:

Always shower before entering a Jacuzzi to remove body oils, lotions, and other products that may affect the water quality. Shower again after soaking to rinse off any chemicals.

So make sure to do these simple steps before using it.

It is also important to do regular jacuzzi maintenance to keep your tub sparkling and looking like new, here’s how:

1. Use test strips to check the chemical and mineral levels in your Jacuzzi.
You should check and adjust the chemical levels 1-2 times a week. You can buy spa test strips at most grocery stores or spa supply stores. The test strips display 6 test results at once, including total alkalinity, calcium hardness, chlorine, pH, bromine, and total hardness. Place the strip in your spa for 15 seconds and see the results.

2. Check the total alkalinity first.
Depending on the test results, add sodium bicarbonate or sodium bisulfate as needed. Use your test strips. A well-balanced spa will have a total alkalinity between 80-120 PPM. If the total alkalinity is above 120, add sodium bisulfate, and if the total is below 80, add sodium bicarbonate. Retest the spa’s alkalinity two hours after adding the chemicals. The alkalinity level must be maintained first because it affects the pH level of your Jacuzzi.

3.Use chlorine or bromine to sanitize your tub.

Chlorine itself has a function to sanitize, make sure with the right levels. For its use you can choose in the form of tablets or granules.

The rules for use are as follows, Do not over-sanitize the spa with chlorine, as it will damage the jacuzzi system.

– If you are using chlorine, add 2 tablespoons to the spa water daily or as recommended to keep the chlorine level between 1.5-3 PPM.

– If you are using bromine, the test strip should read 3-5.

4. Check the calcium hardness.

The best way to maintain the calcium hardness of your spa is to use soft water in the spa. If the calcium hardness of your spa is too high, it will cause scale to form in your spa. You can use a spa protectant product to prevent this scale from forming. On the other hand, if the calcium hardness of your spa is too low, the water will draw minerals from other sources, such as aluminum or iron in your fixtures. If this is the case, use a calcium hardness enhancer to balance the calcium hardness in your spa. Calcium hardness should be between 100-250 PPM if your spa has an acrylic liner and between 250-450 if your spa has a plaster liner.

5. Check the calcium hardness. The best way to keep your Jacuzzi from getting scaled is to use a spa protector to prevent this scale. The calcium hardness should be between 100-250 PPM if the spa has an acrylic coating and between 250-450 if the spa has a plaster coating.

6. Jet Cleaning System : Fill the body with warm water, add a little vinegar or baking soda, then turn on the jet for 10-15 minutes once a month to clean the inside of the pipe.

Keeping the Jacuzzi Working Properly

The Key to all of this is : Take a shower before using the Jacuzzi. Rinse off your hair and body products before entering the spa. If possible, do not wear clothes. Microfibers from clothing and costumes clog filters and soap residue from washing clothes will cause bubbles or even foaming. If the spa water is cloudy or foamy, it may be due to lotions or body products applied before entering the spa. When using the spa, use the eco mode and set the thermometer for half an hour before using the spa. A temperature between 100 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit is usually good for most people.

Maybe you think the maintenance is difficult? It’s not as you imagine, as long as every time you use it, you always rinse it immediately and clear away the water.
